Our Team

Managing Director

Ken is a qualified Electrical Engineer with over 25 years’ experience in the power and infrastructure industries both in Ireland and internationally. Since 2000, Ken has worked exclusively in the renewables sector, in a variety of technical, project management and managerial roles. He previously held senior management positions in Ireland’s state electrical utility ESB before taking over as Managing Director of Ionic Consulting in 2012. Outside of work and family, Ken’s main passion is golf - and his main frustration in life is also golf!

Operations Director

Brendan is a qualified Mechanical Engineer with 20 years’ experience both in Ireland and internationally. Having spent several years in CRH Plc he joined the renewable energy section of Ireland’s state electrical utility ESB in 2003 and has worked exclusively in the renewable industry since then. He joined Ionic Consulting in 2006 where he has held a number of project management, technical, and managerial roles. He has also acted as Interim CEO of the Irish Wind Energy Association during 2016 and remains an IWEA non-executive Director and Council member. When not at work Brendan is most likely to be found enjoying classic cars and rural life in the west of Ireland.

Senior Project Manager - Listowel

Tadhg is a qualified Mechanical and Chartered Engineer with 30 years' experience, both in Ireland and internationally. Of this Tadhg has spent 26 years in the energy industry. After 5 years travelling the world with GE, Tadhg returned to Ireland to work in the areas of design, construction and commissioning in the industrial and energy sector in 1998 with ESBI. The last 17 years have been spent primarily in the renewables industry with both ESBI and Ionic Consulting. He joined Ionic Consulting in 2007 and has held a number of senior project management roles. Outside of work and family Tadhg is likely to be found walking on a hill (or struggling on the hill of a golf course!).

Manager - Grid and Electrical Engineering

Peter is a Chartered Electrical Engineer with over 30 years’ experience. Peter previously worked for CRH in various technical and project management roles including several years with Alcoa and Measurex (Honeywell Control Systems) in the UK. He then ran his own electrical engineering consultancy business for 10 years before joining Ionic Consulting in 2011 where he now leads the Grid and Electrical team. Most of his spare time is spent chairing his local GAA Club, golfing enthusiastically, and consequently avoiding an ever-lengthening DIY task list.

Manager - Civil and Structural Engineering

Cormac has managed the Civil and Structural Engineering Department at Ionic Consulting since 2009. He has been involved in all civil engineering aspects of wind farm projects in Ireland and internationally. Cormac specialises in structural design of turbine foundations and has a background in the design of bridges and buildings in leading consultancy firms in Ireland and Australia. He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1994 and later completed a Master's Degree in Structural Engineering, both in UCD. Most of his spare time is spent outdoors and he can often be found cycling around the hills and mountains of Dublin and Wicklow.

Keith is secretary of Engineers Ireland’s Energy & Environment committee. Away from work, when not busy looking after his children or fixing the house, he enjoys a weekly game of 5-a-side and the odd game of golf during the summer months.

Claire Looney
