A well-earned congratulations to our client Statkraft for the installation of Ireland’s first grid-scale battery storage project as part of the hybrid battery-and-wind Kilathmoy project. Ionic acted as owner’s engineer in support of Statkraft on both the wind and storage elements of this landmark project so are very proud of our involvement.
Speaking about the project, Tadhg Beary, Ionic Consulting Senior Project Manager said
“It is significant that this milestone has been reached on the Kilathmoy project at the start of a new decade as hybrid projects of this type will undoubtedly be a feature of the renewable energy landscape in Ireland and other markets from this point on. And obviously it was great for the Ionic team to play a part in its delivery.”
This is the third hybrid storage-and-wind project completed by Ionic as owner’s engineer with the energy storage element being different each time. This demonstrates our ability to support clients as they embrace a range of new technologies while the industry continues on its journey to decarbonise the electricity generation industry.
